Corvallis Multimedia Train

What kind of multimedia impact could a train of photographers, videographers and bloggers make touring through Corvallis on foot, sharing photos, videos and posts about Corvallis as a concentrated blitz online? Lets find out!

Who is invited to participate?
Everyone! Bring your family and friends. This is an informal and open event.

Where do I go?
The Intersector Workspace across from the Corvallis Courthouse.

When?
4:00 PM, Friday, May 14. We plan to launch at 4:15 PM. If you miss us at 4:15 PM catch up with us at Red Horse Coffee at 5:00 PM.

What are we doing?
We are going to take a walk along 2nd, 3rd and 4th Street in Downtown Corvallis (see the map below for the route) and take pictures, capture video and Tweet information about all the wonderful things we see that make Corvallis so wonderful.

Why are we doing this?
There are empty spaces on the web where there should be photos, videos and information about Corvallis. The more media there is on the web to share with others about Corvallis the better! A couple of places we will share the photos we take will be Yelp and Flickr. We’ll do that as part of a follow-up activity with #CorvSMB.

Plus, we get to hang out with each other (in 3D)!

What about all the other places in Corvallis?
This is just the first Corvallis Multimedia Train event. If this seems to work well we will be sure to do more in different areas of Corvallis.

What should I bring?
Bring your phone, camera and any thing that you have to capture photos, video or tweet with. Also wear a red shirt. Lets cause a commotion and get folks asking “who are those guys and what are they doing?” Remember we others to join us and that doesn’t happen if we are a secret.

Can businesses on the route make requests?
Absolutely. Businesses are welcome to request a special train stop here in the comments or by Twitter using the #CorvSMB tag.

What’s this about a tour of Oregon Trail Brewery?
Oregon Trail Brewery in the Old World Deli is our final destination. There at 5:45 PM they will give us a short tour of the brewery.

And just because…

Especially on Yelp.com. I can’t believe how many businesses have no photos or one photo of their sign. Come on! Give me some food shots! Or maybe a doctor working on a patient. Anything. :)

  2. Kate Rivera says:

I like this idea… what if you tied it to an event like da Vinci Days?

  3. Kate Rivera says:

Uh… by which I mean… “again in July”. Not suggesting putting it off ’til then!

  4. Kind of like a pub crawl :) I like it

  5. Jason P says:

OK, when should we do this? I’m open most Sunday afternoons this month, but May 8th may be my only Saturday I’m available.

Thoughts? Lets get this scheduled in!

  6. Loyan says:

Pick your favorite day for this event in the poll above (just added). I like May 8 just because its nearest to now.

  7. I vote for the 15th because the 8th Synergea is hosting Community Family Wellness Fair at the Boys and Girls club. Purely selfish of course ;)

  8. Matt says:

I know that I’m probably the only one who lives out of town, but I’d vote for a Friday during our normal meeting time. Saturdays and Sundays are usually full for me and make it difficult to make the trip to town.

  9. Jason P says:

Interesting Matt. I like that idea too.

    Thoughts?

  10. Loyan says:

Sounds like a good idea to me too. Hows Friday, 4-6 PM, May 14? We could cover details this Friday and rock it the next.

  11. I’m a fan of Fridays too for the same reasons.

  12. Jason P says:

I’m in on the 14th. Lets do it.

  13. Loyan says:

Its a date! Lets try to set some more details this Friday.

Also on tap this Friday is an open offer to assist local businesses with getting set up on Yelp. See http://www.welovecorvallis.com/corvallis-social-media-brigade/corvsmb-missions-folder/free-help-with-yelp-for-corvallis-businesses.

  14. Matt says:

Awesome guys. Thanks for your response to my idea!

  15. Larina says:

Hate to be a spoil sport, but the post here says April 14th and I’m pretty sure you meant May 14th. :)

  16. Jason P says:

    Yes May 14th!

  17. Denise says:

Looking forward to this. What fun! How about North Corvallis next time? Not as quaint, but lots of businesses that will participate I bet. Just a thought.

  18. Loyan says:

All the flavors of Corvallis needs to be shared. North Corvallis won’t get left out. We started with this location mainly because it is where we meet each Friday (at the Intersector Workspace).

  19. If you plan on going past the bridge into South Town let us know and we will roll out the welcome mats :) Sorry I can’t make it hope you guys have fun!

  20. Megan and Denise- Thanks for reaching out!! If only more business owners/managers would do the same.

  21. Deb Savageau says:

I am with you Matt, Fridays works.

  22. Really fun time with all of you Friday. Had to bolt from the brew tour a bit early, but what a great get-together. Cheers!
